Invitation To Slow Down
What we are?
SPAN is a transdisciplinary research laboratory bringing together artists, scientists, peacebuilders, ecologists, educators, philosophers, poets, researchers, changemakers, and curious humans.
Through the lens of wonder, we investigate how perception shapes reality, how knowledge is created, and what becomes possible when diverse ways of seeing meet. We cultivate spaces for inquiry, creativity, dialogue, and encounter—expanding perception, deepening relational understanding, and opening new pathways for learning, discovery, and collective imagination.

Why Be a Part of SPAN?
Notice - Practice the art of attention.
Learn to observe without immediately categorizing, explaining, or solving. Develop sensitivity to the subtle, the overlooked, and the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary.
Narrate - Give language to experience.
Explore how stories, metaphors, questions, and narratives shape what we perceive and how we make meaning of the world.
Create - Think through making.
Translate observations into visual art, poetry, movement, sound, writing, photography, scientific inquiry, and other forms of expression. Creation becomes a way of thinking, sensing, and discovering.
Connect - Enter worlds beyond your own.
Engage with artists, scientists, educators, ecologists, peacebuilders, and local communities. Learn across disciplines, perspectives, and lived experiences.
Reflect - Notice how perception changes.
Through dialogue and shared inquiry, become aware of how encounters reshape understanding, challenge assumptions, and reveal new possibilities.
Integrate - Bring wonder into everyday life.
Carry insights into your work, relationships, communities, leadership, research, creative practice, and ways of engaging with the world.

How we do it
Together, they create a six-month arc of observation, dialogue, experimentation, and collective meaning-making. Rooted in wonder, participants are invited to explore how artists, scientists, peacebuilders, educators, and changemakers perceive, interpret, and respond to the world through different lenses.
The Observatory
3 Month Online
The Observatory is a space for collective attention.
Over three months, participants gather in bi-weekly online sessions to explore wonder as both a practice and a method of inquiry. Through guided observation, dialogue, guest conversations, artistic prompts, scientific perspectives, and reflective practices, we begin examining how knowledge is created, how perception is shaped, and what becomes possible when we encounter reality through multiple ways of seeing.
The Field Laboratory
A 12-Day Immersive Residency
The Field Laboratory is where inquiry becomes lived experience.
The Field Laboratory is designed as a transdisciplinary learning ecosystem. Participants engage with artists, scientists, educators, peacebuilders, ecologists, researchers, local communities, and cultural practitioners while exploring the intersections of science, art, nature, and society.
